K-9 Program
The purpose of The Grand Blanc Township Police Department K-9 Unit is to support both the Patrol and Investigation branches in the department. The K-9 Unit, in its current configuration, was started in September of 2001. At that time it consisted of Officer Matt Simpson and K-9 Barry. In March of 2002 K-9 Barry was replaced due to health reasons by K-9 Kase who now serves with Sgt. Simpson. K-9 Kase is certified through (2) national organizations in the following areas:
- Contraband Detection (Illegal drugs)
- Tracking (Criminal/ Victim)
- Handler Protection
- Criminal Apprehension
- Evidence Recovery
