The Township DPW operates a sewer jet truck and CCTV trucks every year during the spring, summer, and fall seasons. These crews are cleaning our sanitary sewer system and inspecting them for any defects that need to be repaired in order to prolong the life of our infrastructure. Please remember these facts while the DPW is working in our Sewer system:
- It is possible that water from the sewer system may back up into your home. If you see the trucks in your area, keep your toilet seats down and plug any wash tubs in your basement.
- Water back-ups from our sewer jet truck is not caused by the PSI output on the truck. It is caused by trapped air which is not able to escape through your vent pipes. As the air is being pulled through the pipe, it can push water behind it and it can end up in your home if your vents are plugged.
- According to ACT 222 of 1996, you have 45 days from the time of a back-up to make claim to the Township for damages and you must prove that there was a defect in the public sewer infrastructure that the Township knew about and did not fix.
