Speed Limit Increases
You may have heard that the speed limit on 600 miles of freeways has been increased to 75 mph and the speed limit on 900 miles of non-freeway roads has been increased to 65 mph.
We frequently get questions about how speed limits are set or why the speed limit is set so high/low on a specific road. The attached flyer is a good quick resource to help understand the “why” of setting speed limits. It is put out by the Michigan State Police and their engineering firm.
